Understanding Food Waste

Food waste is a significant global issue that affects not only our environment but also our economy and society. Every year, approximately one-third of all food produced for human consumption is wasted, which amounts to about 1.3 billion tons. This waste contributes to greenhouse gas emissions, as decomposing food in landfills produces methane, a potent greenhouse gas. Additionally, when food is wasted, it also wastes the resources used in its production, such as water, labor, and energy. This is where our journey begins.

Food over consumption is becoming a serious problem

A lot of people think eating a lot of food is normal, especially when there are many options everywhere, but I don’t really agree with that. I feel like overconsumption of food is too much for anyone, especially young people. Everyone should learn to eat in a balanced way, not just keep eating without thinking about it

According to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), around one-third of all food produced globally is wasted each year.

First of all, eating too much food can affect physical health. People may feel heavy, tired, and uncomfortable after eating more than they need. When someone keeps eating large portions every day, it can lead to weight gain and other health problems. For example, many people order more food than they can finish, just because it looks good or they want to try everything.

Also, food overconsumption can affect mental habits too. When people get used to eating too much, they may lose control over their choices. Instead of eating when they are hungry, they eat because they are bored or influenced by social media. This can make eating feel like a habit instead of a need.

In addition, a lot of food gets wasted because of overconsumption. People buy more than they need and throw away the rest. This is not only bad for individuals, but also for the environment. It shows that we are not using our resources in a responsible way.

In my opinion, people should start being more careful about how much they eat. It is important to take only what we need and avoid wasting food. When people make better choices, they can stay healthier and help reduce waste at the same time.

The Reality of Food Overconsumption

food overconsumption can lead to waste when people take more than they need. Many people are influenced by what they see online or by the variety of food available, so they choose larger portions. As a result, a lot of food is left and thrown away. In my opinion, this is not only unhealthy, but also harmful to the environment
